I’ve got 30 Days and I’mma make ’em count

The last Blog Challenge post! Go Team Me.

1. Anything you want to post about.

Well, considering I’m writing this post from the past I don’t know that I have much to talk about. that’s a bummer, isn’t it? I should have saved my tequila story for today.

2. A photograph of yourself today and three good things that have happened in the past 30 days.

Well, I can’t do the photo what with the scheduled-post-out-of-town thing. Maybe tomorrow, though.

Three things I learned this month. Hm. Well, I was certainly reminded that life is fleeting and you should appreciate the shit out of it.

I think I also learned that I should pay closer attention to the things I learn, because I totally can’t think of two more things for this list. This is like the worst blog challenge wrap-up in history, isn’t it? My bad. Maybe I’ll have something better for you next time.

PS, It’s my birthday tomorrow. One year closer to the big 3-0! Crazycakes.

One lunar month = approx. 29 Days

Part 1. Post a picture of yourself.

I think I’ve done plenty of that! Scroll through if you really need to see me.

Part 2. Something you could never get tired of doing.

You mean besides being awesome? Eating delicious food.

I spent the evening at Casa Como last night waiting for the Royal Wedding. Kate, Alex and I all took a wee nap before waking up at 2 am, which was when our local PBS station started airing the BBC’s coverage. We wanted to see all of the hats, and were not disappointed. So many hats! Some awesome, some horrifying. What was Victoria Beckham thinking with that weird forehead hat thing?

Anyway, the wedding was lovely. And Kate looked iiiiincredible.

But I am sleepy. I still have a bunch of stuff to do, and then Darren and I are heading for the Motherland as soon as he gets home from his half-day at work. I’m hoping I can sneak in a nap between then and now.

I won’t have internet access once I leave, so I have to write tomorrow’s post (the last day of the Blog Challenge) in advance. Thought I’d let you know. Full disclosure and all.

Happy Royal Wedding Day!

28 Days ’til I see you

1. Do you wish for anything at 11:11? If so, what do you wish for?

I don’t. Sorry.

2. Your favorite movie.

Most boring question ever. I don’t even have one.

Wow, good thing I have a story because those questions were totally lame.

I was on the bus home yesterday, all super mad because the bus was late and construction traffic was horrible so I knew I was going to miss my second bus. I was listening to music and fuming silently when I noticed the head of the man sitting in front of me.

At first I thought he was just a regular bald dude, but then I realized he was a head-shaver. How did I know? Well, here’s the thing. He was a heavier guy, and the the back of his head – near the neck – had this big skin fold/wrinkle thing. And when he moved his head the wrinkle opened up a little and you could see that there was still hair there, where the razor couldn’t get to it.

It was like a head mustache.

Gross.

Day 27

1. A picture of your handwriting.

This is from my phone, so sorry about the quality.

Sometimes my handwriting is decent; other times I don’t care enough to try.

2. A picture of you last year and now, and how have you changed since then?

To Facebook!

Okay, here I am approximately one year ago (I stole the picture from Kate. Thanks Kate).

I can’t find any super recent pictures of me (aside from the old-timey ones, which aren’t an accurate representation. Go figure). This one is from New Year’s Eve and is another unfortunate phone pic.

Physically I am a bit thinner and my hair is shorter. I am also apparently more drunk. I am married and acquired another pet and probably have less money, even though I make more now than I did last year. Funny how that works. I also might possibly be more awesome now than I was then.

I don’t know what WordPress’ deal is today. I am not the one that turned comments off on this post. It automatically de-selected the “allow comments” option and won’t let me re-click. Fail, WordPress. Fail.

Edit: All betters. That’s what I get for using Internet Explorer. Stupid work computer…

Iron! atomic #26

1. What are some little things that make you feel warm and fuzzy?

Kittens! Darren making me dinner. Snuggles. When my dog rests her head on my leg while she sleeps. Holding hands. Unsolicted backrubs. Cozy blankets. Pictures of my nephew. My wedding album. Hugs.

2. A photo of somewhere you’ve been.

If you just judged by photos, you’d think I’ve been many places. It’s not really true, though the places I have been are pretty awesome. My favorite? London.

Westminster Abbey. We went to church there on the Sunday of our trip. Best sermon ever.

Fact: I have a four day work-week this week, so today is Fake Wednesday. On Friday I will watch the Royal Wedding with Kate and Alex (oh yes I will), then when Darren gets off work at noon we will head north to the Motherland to help his grandparents open the “cabin.”

It’s not really a cabin. It’s a camper set up on a piece of property they own that’s part of a resort/association thing. Once it’s all opened up we’re going to spend the rest of the weekend campfire-ing and brat-and-s’mores-eating and beer-drinking. Although it’s probably going to rain. We won’t let that stop us. My mom wants to take us out to dinner on Saturday, which will be awesome. Then we will spend a chunk of my birthday on Sunday driving home, but I’m pretty sure there will be a stop for ice cream. Possibly ice cream cake. Don’t be jealous.

The downer? Gas is expensive and we have to go back up there next weekend so I can be in Marsha’s wedding. Having to make pay for  two trips is a bummer, but two short weeks and a bunch of time at the cabin will be worth it.

25, 25 Days. That’s too much, that’s too much!

1. Would you rather date someone plain with an amazing personality or someone beautiful with a plain personality?

Someone plain with an amazing personality, duh.

2. What’s in your purse?

  • wallet
  • keys
  • umbrella
  • sunglasses
  • Kindle
  • iPod
  • Blistex
  • lipstick
  • lotion
  • tampons
  • checkbook
  • lip balm (yes, I have three different lip-related items)
  • ibuprofen
  • lighter
  • bus pass
  • moleskine notebook
  • a pen
  • perfume
  • camera
  • usually my cell phone, but that is currently on my desk

It’s love, baby, 24 hours a Day.

1. Seven things that cross your mind a lot.

  1. Is it 5:00 yet?
  2. What should we have for dinner?
  3. Leave me alone, dog.
  4. Why are there socks all over the living room?
  5. I’m hungry.
  6. Stop ringing, phone!
  7. Everyone is insane.

2. A photo of something that means a lot to you.

Funny you should ask. My brother just picked this up from our grandma on Friday. It’s his now – he’s going to put it up in his garage – but it has sentimental value for both of us.

It’s the sign that our dad had up outside his motorcycle shop. It was named after us: K&K = Kyle & Katrina. Pretty awesome that Kyle has it now.

After 23 Days, my patience has reached it’s end

(the title here is a song lyric, not my opinion of the blog challenge).

1. A letter to someone. Anyone.

Didn’t I just do a letter? Skipping!

2. 15 Facts about you.

Let’s see if I can come up with some that aren’t already on my About page.

  • I will be 26 in eight days
  • I dyed my hair black when I was 15. My parents were not happy.
  • I have never not had a cat, although when I was in college I did not live with them
  • I had a brownie for lunch yesterday
  • There are some mornings when Nate Berkus is my reason for getting up early
  • My toenails are not currently painted
  • I am totally into the Royal Wedding hoopla
  • My biological father had his own motorcycle repair shop. It was named after me & my brother.
  • Sometimes (not super often) I wake up in the middle of the night and have to make sure I can hear my husband breathing before I go back to sleep.
  • I have to drink water, put on chapstick, and pee (even if i don’t actually need to go)  in order to feel ready for bed.
  • I really really really want new furniture for my living room
  • I tend to stay up way too late on weekends.
  • I always wear rings on both of my ring fingers, and often have an earring in just one ear
  • Sometimes when I stay up late, I bake.
  • I am sleepy.

Yeah, it’s totally 1 am. Soon I will sleep. Darren and I are planning to head to the Mall of America to use a Groupon I bought for old timey photographs. If the weather doesn’t suck we also intend to take Enli to the dog park. Speaking of, I can’t say enough good things about that place. I never thought much about off-leash dog parks until now. As long as the rules are followed, it’s pretty much the greatest thing ever. Socialization and exercise for dogs and their people– you can’t really go wrong.

Maybe I should go to bed so I can be rested for these events.

Indeed.

22 Days with you in my head

Part 1. A picture of what you wore today.

That seems like a lot of work. Taking a picture of myself, then waiting until I get home to haul out all the cords required to upload a picture from my camera. No thanks. I’ll just tell you. I’m wearing a brown sweater over a light blue tank top, with jeans and brown shoes.

Part 2. A letter to someone who has hurt you recently.

Dear Universe,

What’s with all the tragedy in the past week? Give it a rest, would you? There’s the stuff I wrote about a couple days ago, plus a shitload of car accidents or car/pedestrian accidents in just this city alone…  maybe take a nap now. Okay?

No Love,

Katrina

How about a story? A ridiculous one, because I think I need it. Warning: It involves a shower. Please refrain from picturing me naked. Not that you would.

One night sometime in March I was in the shower pondering various things, like ya do, when the bathroom door opened. I had just finished shaving one leg. My husband walked in and said he had a surprise for me.

“Is it kisses?” I asked.

“No, it’s not kisses.”

I opened the curtain and he stood there with a shot glass in one hand and a lime in the other. Tequila.

I paused. “I need salt.” Oh yes I do.

He showed me a hand. “I have it. Also, this is a double. You’ll sleep well tonight.”

Oh, for the love of…

…all right, why not? I took the lime and the glass. Deep breath, lick the salt off the back of his hand, pound the shot, suck the lime. Juicy. He laughed, gave me a kiss, and let me finish my shower.

I did fall asleep a little faster.

Day 21

1. Turn ons and offs.

Oh really? Well, without getting too personal I will say that smelliness and bad breath turns me off, while I am turned on by the opposite. Nothing like a clean, good-smelling dude climbing into bed next to you. Rawr.

2. A photo of something that makes you happy.
